Mission Statement
Vision Statement
Our mission is to empower refugee youth and young adults to build a brighter future through education, community involvement, and personal growth. By providing the resources and opportunities they need to succeed, we help them thrive in American society and become leaders who give back to their communities with purpose and pride.
We envision a world where every refugee youth has the opportunity to thrive—where they excel academically, contribute meaningfully to their communities, and confidently pursue their path to success. Our program serves as the catalyst for this transformation, inspiring a generation of empowered youth poised to make a lasting impact on society.
Our Story
Path2Citizenship was founded in early 2024, inspired by a simple act of connection with one refugee family in Aurora, Colorado. Our journey began in 2022 when we met the Uwase family—refugees from the Democratic Republic of the Congo—who had recently resettled through Light of Nations Church. Two of the Uwase children, Blessings and Fabrice, were waiting to enroll in school and had received little formal education while living in a refugee camp. We began tutoring them in English and math while helping them adjust to the expectations of the American school system. With just a few months of personalized support, both children successfully enrolled in elementary and middle school by January 2023 and quickly adapted to their new environment. Their story became the spark that ignited our mission. As we connected with more refugee youth and families facing similar challenges, we saw the urgent need for a supportive, empowering community that could help them not just survive—but thrive. Path2Citizenship now serves as a platform to provide education, mentorship, and meaningful opportunities for growth to refugee youth and young adults in Colorado.
